I don't think that's odd at all. We talk to our pet cats and dogs, so why not a lizard? My wife and I feed a wild crow called Sally everyday on our rear yard wall behind the kitchen, and she actually responds by cawing when we say something directly to her, like "Hey, didn't you already have your half-slice of bread this morning?" She'll respond with a caw that sounds just like she's saying, "Yes, but can I have just one more, please?"
